Alpine skills course. The AMGA’s training courses, exams, and certifications are designed to certify you, the individual guide, with the skills necessary to effectively guide clients in Rock, Alpine, and/or Ski terrain. Beginning with an introduction to multi-pitch alpine rock climbing, this course normally takes us to three big-name summits, making for a spectacular adventure. Combine with an overnight backpacking course to jump-start your climb. The alpine program progression will help you fine-tune your skills in alpine snow, mixed, waterfall ice, and glaciated terrain. Alpine Mountaineering and Technical Leadership (AMTL) Part 1 provides a comprehensive introduction to all the skills of alpine mountaineering, general team leadership, and leading rope teams on glaciers. Take this course to raise your skills to the intermediate level while climbing a series of spectacular North Cascades alpine summits such as South Early Winter Spire, Liberty Bell, Eldorado Peak, and Mt. Shuksan. Join us for a 3- or 4-day glacier skills clinic and summit ascent. It includes rock climbs, peak ascents, waterfall ice climbs, and expeditionary climbing. Enhance your leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, gaining confidence for leading in all aspects of life with this North Cascades alpine climbing course.
